How to get to the Gstaad cable cars

Relaxed arrival by public transport

Travelling to Gstaad by train or bus is easy and pleasant. You travel through an impressive mountain landscape without having to worry about traffic jams or looking for a parking space. On site, you can reach the valley stations of the mountain railways directly by public transport.

Rinderberg

  • The mountain railway can be reached from Zweisimmen train station in 5 minutes on foot.
  • There is a paid parking lot at the Rinderberg valley station. The current occupancy is displayed on site by the parking guidance system.

Saanersloch

  • The valley station of the Saanersloch gondola lift can be reached from Saanenmöser train station in just a few minutes on foot

Horneggli

  • It can be reached from Schönried train station in just a few minutes on foot
  • Use the paid parking lot "Talstation Horneggli". Other parking spaces are available near the train station

  • You can reach the Eggli by public transport either via Gstaad or via Saanen (only in winter).
  • Paid parking is available at the Gstaad-Eggli and Saanen Rübeldorf valley stations.

La Videmanette

  • The La Videmanette cable car is a 10-minute walk by public transport from Rougemont station

Gondola lift Col du Pillon

  • The Col du Pillon gondola lift can be reached by public transport via the "Col de Pillon" bus stop
  • Paid parking spaces are available at the valley station. Vehicles with winter tires and four-wheel drive are recommended for the pass

Travel locally at your destination

Use the Gstaad Card for free bus and train travel

The Gstaad Card is a guest card that offers numerous benefits in the Gstaad region from the first overnight stay. This includes, in particular, the free use of train and bus connections in the entire holiday area between Rougemont, Zweisimmen and Lenk as well as the Col du Pillon. In addition, card holders benefit from discounts on various leisure activities and attractions in the region.

 

 

Arrival at the destination

Travelling by train is not only comfortable and environmentally friendly, it is also an experience in itself thanks to the impressive routes. The GoldenPass Express connects Montreux, Gstaad and Interlaken and offers spectacular views of the Alpine landscape along the way.

From Zurich: Connection via Bern-Spiez-Zweisimmen, change in Zweisimmen to the GoldenPass train in the direction of Gstaad.

From Geneva / Western Switzerland: connection via Montreux with change to the GoldenPass.

Stops: Saanenmöser - Schönried - Gstaad - Saanen.

You can also easily reach Gstaad by car. Depending on the starting point, the following routes are available:

  1. From Bern: approx. 1.5 hours drive via Thun and Zweisimmen
  2. From Zurich: approx. 3 hours drive via Lucerne, Interlaken and Zweisimmen
  3. From Geneva: approx. 2 hours drive via Lausanne and Château-d'Oex

Parking spaces can be found near the valley stations. Please be aware of local parking fees as well as any restrictions depending on the season and location.

Local bus connections take you comfortably from Gstaad to the various valley stations of the mountain railways. You can find the current timetables on the public transport website SBB.

From mid-December to mid-March, the free ski bus connects the ski areas between Gstaad and Saanen. 

For international guests, the nearest airports are:

  • Bern-Belp Airport (approx. 1.5 hours by car)
  • Geneva Airport (approx. 2 hours by car)
  • Zurich Airport (approx. 3 hours by car)

Saanen Airport: Air taxi connections to and from Gstaad Airport in Saanen in the Gstaad holiday region are maintained to many national and international destinations.

From the airports there are train connections to Gstaad.

With the Gstaad Card, your guest card, you can use the train and bus in the region free of charge. You can find information about timetables and tickets online or at the stations. More about the Gstaad Card at gstaad.ch.
