Embedded in a wonderful mountain landscape lies the Sparenmoos cross-country trail. The area at the foot of Hundsrügg above Zweisimmen has already been the venue for the Swiss Championships in cross-country skiing several times. It consists of a varied mosaic of moors, pastures, and small woods. Because of its special beauty and the diversity of moor types, the Sparenmoos-Nujeberg area, through which the trail is also groomed, is considered a moorland of national importance.
The trail on the snow-secure, sun-drenched high plateau impresses with a varied route through the gentle hilly landscape. It enchants with a fantastic view from the Stockhorn to Les Diablerets. From the start at the mountain hut Sparenmoos, it first goes towards Site-Alp, from where the view into the Simmental opens. From there, an extra loop of about 3 km is made on the floor of the Site. Those who want can conclude the cross-country skiing experience in the buvette right at the finish with a snack made from regional products.
