Shaping the future of our mountain railways together

Through the Horneggli-Hornberg project, the BDG is investing in sustainable infrastructure, thereby enhancing snow reliability for the vital winter tourism sector in the Saanenland. The budget has increased due to stricter requirements from the federal government and the canton, additional environmental regulations and rising construction costs. The BDG has already made savings in various areas; further cuts would jeopardise the project. On 18 September, the Saanen Municipal Assembly will vote on a supplementary grant of CHF 12 million. The current project costs will be covered as follows:

  • BDG’s own contribution: made possible by additional revenue from the Magic Pass
  • Supplementary funding from the municipality of Saanen: municipal vote on 18 September
  • Planned share capital increase

Only if all three sources of funding are secured can the project be realised as planned.
