The 2079 m high Rinderberg rises between Gstaad and Zweisimmen. It is popular with skiers in winter, but in summer it becomes a rewarding destination for hikers. A chairlift takes us from Schönried to the starting point of the Horneggli hike. The chairlift is five minutes from the station, ideal for travelers arriving by train.
Once on Horneggli, follow the well-marked trail towards Hornberg - Rinderberg. A contouring alpine path leads from Hornberg to Parwengen. From there the ascent to Rinderberg begins. It gently climbs on a good hiking trail with an incredible view of the main Alpine ridge. The mountain trail mostly runs broader and not exposed along the ridge. A few spots are a little narrower and require surefootedness.
From the Rinderberg summit at 2079m, there is only a short descent to the Rinderberg mountain restaurant at 2000 m. There, the special cow playground awaits the children and the sun terrace welcomes tired hikers. The gondola then takes hikers back to Zweisimmen. At the mid-station, there is the option to switch to a scooter for the rest of the descent, permitted from 12 years old.
