Important milestone reached for the Gstaad+ generation project

Bergbahnen Destination Gstaad AG has completed an important step in the Gstaad+ generation project: The contract with the cable car manufacturer Bartholet has been signed. This paves the way for a successful collaboration.

The Gstaad+ generation project is crucial for the future of Bergbahnen Destination Gstaad AG. The choice of the right partners plays a central role in this. The next step is to work out the planning approval procedure in collaboration with Bartholet, the civil engineer and the architects. As soon as cantonal approval has been granted, the process can begin. Construction is scheduled to start in spring 2026.

The new gondola lift will replace the Horneggli chairlift from 1984 and run directly up the Hornberg. It consists of two sections with an intermediate station. The modern gondola design comes from the renowned Italian design studio Pininfarina. The signed contract also includes cooperation for all three planned new lifts, provided the relevant licences are granted.

A prototype of the new cabin is already on display on the terrace of Berghaus Horneggli. Visitors can get a first impression of the innovative design and modern structure of the future cable car on site.
